October 2009, Saturday AM session
9:00: Arrive to lots of furtive glances and groans amongst the otherwise reverent congregation. President Eyring is already welcoming, I thought we were early. ??
9:06: Lily burps after the prayer.
9:10: "I'm hungry, Mommy." "I'm thirsty, Mommy" "Mom, I'm hungry, too" "You just ate 14 minutes ago, you can't possibly be hungry!"
9:26: Much shuffling of paper and arguing over who gets the red colored pencil.
9:27: Dad gets irritated
9:42: Bathroom Break #1
10:00: Lily runs up and down the pew waving her arms like some kind of head hunter in pursuit. Piercing shriek.
10:06: Explain to Emma the concept of a whisper.
10:08: Bathroom break #2
10:09: Why do I do this?
10:14: Send the kids away on a walk around the building.
10:23: Elder Bednar explains why I do this.
10:26: See our old friend Ryan Murphy conducting the choir. Very cool.
10:36: Insist that this is the last talk.
10:46: Begin clean up regimen.
10:52: Make Ethan listen to the closing song so he can write a report on it when we get home.
11:01: Commence running around the chapel until I hiss threats of bodily harm.
11:03: Chat with the missionaries.
11:10: Exit the building

Wow. Best of luck with all the rest of the sessions!
On a side note...that's funny that you knew Ryan Murphy. He was my University Chorale director one semester at BYU. Small world.
That sounds just about right.
Uh, yeah. That does sound right. He's breathing my air, mom! He's looking at me! He's touching me!
I can't handle the furtive glances and groans, so we stay home and watch it on tv or the internet. So, did I hear more of Conference? Debatable. Kids playing "Conference Bingo" the whole time with "he's coloring on my paper!" and "did he say 'tithing'" (because it's the last Bingo square she needs) the entire last two talks! Good luck to all of us tomorrow!
We gave up on the church thing long ago. Now I DVR it and we watch one talk a Sunday. The kids have some really good comments when it is in small bits like that. Maybe they will never learn to sit for more than 15 minutes, but they are still alive and that would not be the case at church. Is it a double sin if you murder in the chapel?
