Emma at 4

I just read this from my journal from June 2007. It made me laugh so hard, I thought I would post it:

I just had a little bedtime conversation with Emma. Went a little like this:

“Mom, look at the scratch I got on my leg. How does my body make new skin when I get bloody? Sometimes I get a drink at night and then I pee because I don’t want to leak, because I hate leaking. I don’t like how it feels. Sometimes when I pee it burns a little. How can it make fire when you rub two sticks together?”

ME: “Rub your hands together, do you feel them get hot?”

“Yes, I can feel it get hot, but I can’t do it very fast. Ethan can do it faster. Ethan is really fast on his bike. Gracie is not very fast. I’m faster than her and Ethan is faster than Jackson and me. When I turn 5 Ethan will be 6, when I turn 6 Ethan will be 7, when I turn 7, Ethan will be 8. Then he’ll get baptized. When I turn 8, Ethan will be 9... When I turn 11, Ethan will be 12. Why did you need that seat at the hospital? Why do people who are sick get up and walk around at the hospital when they are supposed to be in bed? When we were at the hospital I saw someone laying on a bed with wheels on it and I think they were dead. I want to earn some money to buy a glowing bear. I want to buy something for Jacob, like…umm…like (hitting herself on the forehead) I’m trying to wake up my brain! She’s falling asleep! I’ll think of something. Something else is popping into my head.”
