Edward's Smoldering Eyes

So my friend lent me TWILIGHT of RS Enrichment Book Club Fame to read. I decided to read it in spite of my skepticism to see why it's so popular among (ahem) Relief Society sisters.
I'll never be invited to Book Club again. I'm halfway through and it is absolutely agonizing, or to use a word equivalent to the author's vocabulary, vomitrocious.
...more to come.

Laura,
I think I about got struck down by the girls in my ward after informing them that this was not "my favorite book ever". It's poorly written and has too much teenaged smut in it...especially for having been written by a member. Unfortunately I have a terrible habbit of not being able to not finish a book/series so I have read them all. Sometimes interesting, sometimes a total waste of time.

Hi Laura - I don't think I've ever heard of that book.

LOL - love your blog

Okay, I've been wondering what all the hype is about, also. Never read any of the Twilight books. Good to hear that there are some who don't idolize these!

Whenever anything becomes too popular or frenzied I tend to find myself repulsed a bit, mostly because by nature I am not a "fan". I do think Sister Meyer has a gift for page turning type of storytelling though. Would love a post about your favorite books to glean from.....

unfortunately, I've read that series and can only say that, while i could smack most of the characters upside the head and gag all at the same time, it's compelling. It's beyond a "dessert book" - it's only a step up from reading People magazine or something. BUT there are some interesting ideas that Stephenie Meyer explores. and I'm not sure if anyone is going to let ME back to book group now that I was a little too honest in my critique last month... :)
